We celebrate International Corgi Day on June 4 every year. The corgi is a dog breed with short legs, a long body, and a huge heart. These dogs’ roots can be traced to Wales where they were bred to herd larger animals. The combination of their short height and agility made them the top contenders for herding animals. Corgis are also known as the ‘dwarf’ dog. The main aim of International Corgi Day is to bring love and attention to this lovable dog breed. A focus is also put on rescuing and rehoming corgis that have been abandoned by their owners.

NATIONAL CHICKEN LITTLE AWARENESS DAY
The sky is falling on April 9 because it's National Chicken Little Awareness Day! This quirky day celebrates the world’s most famous alarmist—a folk tale character who constantly thinks the world is coming to an end. Whether you’re a "glass-half-empty" kind of person or you just enjoy a good overreaction, today is your day to embrace the panic (and then hopefully laugh it off).


We all know the story of Chicken Little (also known as Chicken Licken or Henny Penny). She is the main character in the famous tale about jumping to conclusions and how a one misunderstanding can cause a lot of chaos. National Chicken Little Awareness Day isn't about the character, it's more about the lessons one learns about the dangers of irrational fear, panic, and jumping to conclusions based on misinformation. The day emphasizes critical thinking and discourages "sky is falling" alarmism.

International Waffle Day is a tradition that is celebrated in Sweden and elsewhere, on March 25. The Christian holiday of Annunciation, Our Lady’s Day, is celebrated on March 25 (nine months before Christmas). Because Vårfrudagen (“Our Lady’s Day”), which in vernacular Swedish sounds almost like Våffeldagen (waffle day), waffles have traditionally been eaten on this day although it has no religious connections to Our Lady’s Day.

The first United States patent for a waffle iron was issued to Cornelius Swarthout of Troy, New York on August 24, 1869. It is this day that most people in the U.S. celebrate National Waffle Day.

Since we love waffles, The Waffleman celebrates both the international and the national Waffle Days.
