Seattle really shows off in the fall — crisp mornings, fiery leaves, and that perfect balance of cozy and adventurous. Whether you’ve lived here forever or just arrived, this season is made for slowing down and exploring.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to make the most of it:

• Walk the Arboretum or Discovery Park before peak colors fade
• Take a weekend drive to Leavenworth or the Skagit Valley for cider and mountain views
• Settle into a firepit patio for that last al fresco coffee before the gray settles in
• Stroll the Ballard Farmers Market while it’s piled high with pumpkins and squash
• Stock up on good reads at Elliott Bay Book Co. or try a new soup recipe for rainy days
