We finished! 25th and 33rd out of over 150 paddlers. Crossing the Hood Canal was windy, but super pretty. Fun day was had by all.

THIS SATURDAY • 1 PM⚓️

A barrel of aquavit. A flotilla of paddlers. A crossing of Hood Canal.

The annual Fjordin Crossin returns to Hoodsport this Saturday, celebrating Scandinavian heritage with a one-of-a-kind community event featuring paddling, a parade, oysters, Potlatch beer, aquavit, and plenty of Viking spirit.

And one of the BEST parts? The people you’ll meet.

Last year we met a family visiting from Ohio who decided to join the fun. They bought a canoe on Facebook Marketplace, painted it, christened it “The Chumbucket,” and paddled across the canal like seasoned Fjordin Crossin veterans. That’s exactly the kind of event this is—welcoming, quirky, and full of memorable, funny stories.

We’ll be there on the water, and we’d love to see you there too. Whether you’re paddling, cheering from shore, or simply soaking up the festivities, you’re sure to leave with a smile and a few new friends.
Hope to see you Saturday!

Our annual hiking adventure took us to the Cotswolds, England this May—and honestly, it felt like stepping into another world.

Think: lush green hills, spring lambs bounding through the fields, and winding footpaths lined with hawthorn blossoms, cow parsley, sweet peas, and fresh barley shoots.

And the gates… oh, the gates.
Kissing gates, farm gates, garden gates—we must have opened and closed at least 100 of them, each one leading us somewhere beautiful.

For nine days, we walked village to village—covering nearly 110 miles through some of the most pristine, welcoming places I’ve ever experienced. Every day brought something new: restored castles, ancient churches founded by the Knights Templar, relics dating back to 400 BC, and even an accidental run-through of a Father Brown filming in Blockley.

But as always, it’s the people who make a place unforgettable.

We hugged our taxi drivers goodbye like old friends.
Shared stories with lifelong locals gathering for their weekly pint at the village pub.
Joined Thursday coffee with church friends in Naunton.
Learned about historic dovecotes—once a luxury reserved for the wealthy and their doves.

And yes… we had many heartfelt conversations with the animals along the way. 🐑🐄

One of my favorite memories? The soundtrack of spring itself—birdsong from morning to night. Eurasian blue t**s, robins, dunnocks, jackdaws… a chorus I wish I could bottle and bring home.

Travel for me is always about more than seeing beautiful places—it’s about wandering slowly, noticing details, and connecting with the stories that make a place feel alive.

Come wander with me. More adventures (and beautiful places worth calling home) ahead. ✨

Spring in Seattle☀️

04/23/2026

If you’re looking for a Seattle day that actually delivers on many fronts, then head straight to Volunteer Park ☀️☀️☀️! This is the kind of place that quietly packs in way more than you expect.

Start at the Seattle Asian Art Museum and step into “Anila Quayyum Agha: Geometry of Light.” This isn’t a typical exhibit — it’s something you walk through. Intricate, glowing patterns spill across every surface, shifting as you move, pulling you into the art itself.

Then keep the wander going:

Climb the Volunteer Park Water Tower for one of the best low-key skyline views in the city
Pop into the Volunteer Park Conservatory for a dose of warm, lush greenery
Roam the open lawns and tree-lined paths with those classic Seattle views that never get old
It’s the kind of place where you go for one thing… and end up staying for all of it.

And if living near a park like this — where art, nature, and city views all come together — sounds like your kind of lifestyle, I can help you find it. Let’s get you home.

Once in a blue moon, a home like this hits the market—and it’s one you don’t want to miss.

This 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath home offers the kind of flexibility buyers are searching for, with a 4th bedroom designed as a true flex space—perfect for a home office, guest room, or whatever your life needs right now. Add in a spacious bonus room, and you’ve got room to live, work, and unwind.

The kitchen is the heart of the home, anchored by a large quartz island and custom Acorn-built cabinetry—built for real life, whether that’s weeknight dinners or weekend hosting. Major updates are already done for you: newer roof, updated furnace, heat pump, and A/C, plus radiant heat in the bathrooms and laundry (you’ll feel that in the winter 👌).

Step outside and it gets even better—covered, heated patio with ceiling fans + a beautifully maintained yard ready for year-round use. And don’t miss the extra-deep garage with a workshop bay.
