It's time again for another edition of Johnny O's "Go-To" Thursdays! Today's is Hodak's Restaurant & Bar located at 2100 Gravois Ave, St. Louis, MO 63104. The "claim to fame" at Hodak's is the fried chicken and I'm here to say it didn't disappoint. My order was the 1/2 Golden Fried Chicken with french fries & Slaw. I haven't been to all of the fried chicken joints in the area but in my book, this is the best! Not too crispy but crispy enough and when you bite into the tender, juicy inside you know you're eating something special. Go with an appetite because while the sides were good, 1/2 of a bird is a lot of good ol' chicken. www.hodaks.com

This week's edition of Johnny O's "Go To" Thursdays is La Pizza at 8137 Delmar Blvd, University City, MO 63130. I know everyone has a favorite pizza joint but in my opinion, they have the best New York-Style (by far I might add) in the region. A relatively small footprint but they have eat-in capabilities as well as a booming takeout and delivery business. I always get the sausage and pepperoni...plenty of fixins, great sauce and a crust I save for last because it's so freakin good! www.lapizzamenu.com

This edition of Johnny O's "Go To" Thursdays is The Parkmoor Drive-In located at 220 W Lockwood Ave, Webster Groves, MO 63119. An old-timey drive-in feel with some contemporary nuances, the food was incredibly great. I had the Chef Salad but it was chopped with all the ingredients mixed together and was uniquely excellent. My buddy had the Shrimp Po Boy and said it was in his Top 3 of all the po boys he's eaten anywhere. Big, plump, freshly battered shrimp on a great tasting roll with lettuce, tomato and remoulade...spectacular. Located in the old Kirkwood Brewing Co building at 105 E Jefferson, Kirkwood, MO and boasting 4 additional area locations, Mission Taco Joint delivers a unique, Mexican-inspired street taco experience. Chips and guacamole are excellent with generous portions of both. I had the Spicy Chorizo and Grilled Chicken tacos. I know some restaurants say they have spicy food but these 2 items are really spicy (take the jalapenos off for a little less kick!).
