SEPTEMBER EVENTS AT WINDSOR HILLS
School might be back in for local children; however, community activities continue to run from 10:30-4:00 daily. Movies play in the Theatre three times per day: at 1 PM, 4 PM, and 7 PM . Guests can also enjoy the DJ who performs every Saturday from noon until 3PM at the main pool.

ANY LABOR DAY LONG WEEKEND PLANS?
The Promenade Sunset Walk, only minutes from the Villa, is offering a full weekend of entertainment you may want to check out: sunsetwalk.com

In addition, the Resort at Margaritaville has a special planned event for Friday evening between 5 PM and 7 PM (just look for the flip-flop). The event is free, but they are welcoming donations to a very worthwhile charity, GIVE KIDS THE WORLD (gktw.org).

After that event, consider strolling the Promenade in search of a bite to eat, a cold b**r and some music. 🍗🥗🍺 🎶

HAPPY HALF WAY
Today marks the mid way point of hurricane season in Florida (officially June 1-Nov 30).

As of September 1, 2026, we have had 5 named tropical storms (heavy rains) but no hurricanes have made landfall:
1. Arthur — June
2. Bertha — July
3. Cristobal — August
4. Dolly (❤️)— August
5. Edouard — formed August 31 and is currently a tropical storm near the Gulf Coast.

So yes, 2026 is potentially on track to be one of the quietest seasons in decades. However, the most active weather in the season often occurs from now until mid October.

At Windsor Hills we are advantaged both because of our distance from either ocean and because of our elevation. We also have underground power and excellent retention ponds at Windsor Hills. This means we are less likely to lose our power or incur flooding during a weather event.

I have been on property at Amarillo Villa 3 times during a hurricane event without consequence. (We did, however, get to enjoy some really good snacks and some delicious w**e while we waited them out.🍷😊)

There were no recorded landfall hurricanes in Florida last season. Here’s hoping there will be none in what remains of the 2026 season as well!

GUEST EXPERIENCE
What a great family. What wonderful guests. I only learned on this visit that the twins have now celebrated three birthdays at the villa. How cool is that!!

YOU LITTLE PRINCESS, YOU
I’m sure you have noticed adults wearing Disney themed clothing while you have wandered around the parks. I have to admit I have seen some that look delightful and clever with minimal effort.

I thought these examples might be of interest to teens just beyond the costume age restriction or even moms who want to embrace the joy their littles are experiencing. Dressing up can definitely add to the magic.🪄🪄

Walt Disney World’s current rules prohibit adults (anyone age 14 or older) from wearing costumes in the theme parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. ***Costumes are only allowed during special events like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. 🎃

WHAT 14yr + CANNOT WEAR:

* ❌ A full Disney character costume
* ❌ Costume masks
* ❌ Clothing/accessories that make you appear to be a Disney character
* ❌ Costumes with weapons or weapon-like props
* ❌ Costumes that drag on the ground

NOTE: Disney can refuse entry or remove a guest if the attire violates the policy.

VERY SOON!
The cabanas are framed, power/electrical has been run and the furnishings have arrived.

We are still VERY hopeful to have the cabanas operational by September long weekend!!

I will share more when I learn more regarding booking procedures, cost, cabana amenities etc.

THE END OF A LONG STANDING (pun)TRADITION?
EPCOT has added temporary table stands to accommodate people attending this year‘s Food and W**e Festival which starts Aug 27.
This has made me realize how much I loved complaining about eating off the top of garbage cans… and how much I am now probably going to miss doing that. Lol😂

CONSTRUCTION SEASON ⚠️
In my home province of Saskatchewan Canada, construction season runs from May through October. In Florida it runs all year long!

To anyone who has travelled Florida’s I-4, it comes as no surprise that the infrastructure has not kept up with the increase in population and traffic.

Various ‘Moving I-4 Forward’ projects are expediting changes where they are most needed to relieve traffic congestion. If you have driven even from the airport to Windsor Hills on the I-4 you have been witness to couple of these.

Most recently, the 192 East/ I-4 East interchange is being reconfigured so that it can accommodate a wider I-4 in that area.

The image shows the removal of the flyover and the temporary left-hand turn that is required to take you onto the I4 E. This particular project reroute began Aug 2 and should be completed in the summer of 2027.
