Today, East Tennessee lost one of its brightest lights.

Dolly Parton was so much more than a country music legend. She was a storyteller, entrepreneur, philanthropist, proud Tennessean, and someone who never forgot where she came from.

From the Smoky Mountains to stages around the world, she carried East Tennessee with her every step of the way.

Her impact will live on through the music she gave us, the businesses she built, the books she put into the hands of children, and the countless lives she touched along the way.

We are grateful to have called her one of our own.

Rest easy, Dolly. East Tennessee will always be home.
