Our baby bear “Brutus” is no longer little, he’s 18 months old now and growing and healthy! Although he stays away from people while guests are at Papa Bears Swimming Hole, he is seen from a distance most days by our guests. We have watched him since he was born along with one brother and a sister…he’s a handsome fellow.

We at Papa Bears Swimming Hole have some of the most amazing guests ever! Thank you to these fine people for their thoughtfulness and kindness. She hand painted this canvas for us with her rendition of the famous 1930 “American Gothic” painting, with mama Bear and Pama Bear! It’s a one of a kind, and hangs proudly in the cabin. Awesome!

Did you know that Papa Bears Swimming Hole has its very own butterfly mural on a massive 12 foot tall mountain wall, that is also a chalk board! The entire wall can be drawn, written on and colored all with chalk that is provided. High above the mountain wall are interactive clouds that react to the shouts and screams of the little ones! The butterfly mural is the only one ever painted in a cabin by famed Tennessee artist Pinky Mistry. Ever gone to downtown Sevierville to take a selfie on the massive butterfly on the wall in downtown or seen the huge butterfly murals in downtown Nashville and other cities? Well, when building the huge cabin, we commissioned Pinky to paint our very own butterfly. It is the only one she has ever painted in a cabin. That’s just one feature of a great many that make Papa Bears Swimming Hole, the top attraction cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains!

Reviewer Comments: I want to first start the review by saying if you do not choose this location for your stay you will be missing out! I was initially worried if it would be enough for both the adults and kids to enjoy but we had a party of about 15 people and the place was spacious enough and we were not on top of each other. Being that it was a newer cabin, the amenities were great and the view spectacular! Even when our dishwasher went out briefly, the owner came and had it fixed the same day and replaced it with a new one! We also got free sweets on the owner from an amazing local bakery! We used every point of the cabin which included the pizza oven as well as the pool, game room and hot tub! The kids enjoyed their time and so did we! Thank you Matt and April for making our stay phenomenal!!

One of our local bears, we call him Brutus, likes to come by to see our Papa Bear ( our big bronze bear statue) every day or two. Here he is sniffing at the bottom of the door while no one is there… he’s lost a fair amount of weight thru the heat of the summer, but he is still a handsome young fellow. We had some guests that said a while back, “who needs Cades Cove! We see more bears here!” Granted, the two families of bears that frequent our side of the mountain don’t tend to come around when there are people around but they do get seen on a regular basis. Bears are such wonderful creatures. PB

We like to tell other cabin owner friends..” our elevator car is more custom than your cabin!”… yes Papa Bears Swimming Hole has an elevator… with real tree bark for a ceiling. How cool is that!
