Some friendships are just special. 💕 My sweet friend came to town last week to be here for Evan’s baptism, and having her fly across the country for this special day meant so much to me. 🙏

We also squeezed in some much-needed girl time—lunch at Café 4, a relaxing spa day, lake time, family time, and lots of laughs!

So thankful for our friendship of 20 years. ❤️

The weekend of February 9th, I witnessed a very real battle between the enemy and God over my son’s life. But God… 🙏

Yesterday, we had the incredible privilege of watching Evan publicly rededicate his life to Christ through baptism. What a beautiful celebration and a moment his dad and I will treasure forever! There are simply no words to fully describe the emotions in my heart.

Evan, we are so incredibly proud of you and excited to continue watching how God moves in your life, uses your testimony and guides your steps. We know He has something so special planned for you.

I am also deeply thankful for every family member and friend who came to surround Evan with love, encouragement and prayer. Having all of you there made this beautiful day even more meaningful.

God is faithful. The enemy does not get the final word—God does. And this is only the beginning. 🤍🙏

The last weekend of August in Knoxville is a good one, and I did the homework for you.

Friday at noon, WDVX takes the show to Barley’s in the Old City for the Big Plate. Saturday it’s back at the newly renovated Visitor Center on Gay Street for the Blue Plate Special. Both free, both an hour, and both the kind of thing out-of-towners never believe we actually have.

Then Sunday, World’s Fair Park and the Knoxville Museum of Art fill up for the Knox Asian Festival. The cultural parade steps off at 10:30 at the fountain, and after that it’s food booths, three stages, and the passport program that lets you stamp your way through every country represented. It’s ticketed and only a few dollars, and it’s one of the most special Sundays of the summer here.

This is what I love about this city. There’s always something happening, and most of it is walkable, family friendly, and easy on the wallet. Comment “GUIDE” for the full weekend lineup.

Our Halls Business & Professional Association meeting took us to the Halls Museum this month, and it turned into one of my favorite mornings in a long time.

We got to walk through the history of this community, then tour the UT Men’s Basketball Museum and visit with several former players. My favorite part was seeing Pat Robinette. Growing up, he greeted me every single morning as the principal of Bonny Kate Elementary, and standing there talking with him all these years later was one of those special full circle moments you never see coming. Halls has a way of doing that.

Serving as president of Halls Business & Professional Association is one of the ways I get to give back to a community that has given my family so much, and I’m grateful for every morning like this one. There’s a moment in almost every closing that has nothing to do with paperwork.

It’s when a family walks into an empty house for the first time as owners, sets their bags down in the living room, and prays over it. Nothing hung on the walls yet. Nothing cooked in the kitchen. Just people asking God to bless what’s about to happen inside those rooms. I’ve watched it in Halls, in Fountain City, in Powell, and it never stops feeling special. A house is framing and brick and a roof. A home is what you invite into it.
