🚗 Drive Safely in the Smokies 🚗
As you explore Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it’s important to stay alert and prioritize safety for everyone.
Over the past 5 years, an average of around 300 motor vehicle crashes have occurred annually within the park. Unfortunately, as of early May 2025, there have already been 86 motor vehicle crashes reported, with several being caused by distracted drivers.
Follow these guidelines to help keep you and others safe on our roadways:
1. Park first: Pull over to send texts, check maps, or enjoy the view. Look for designated pull-outs!
2. Designate a phone holder: Have someone else manage calls, messages, and photos while you drive.
3. DND mode: Turn on your phone’s “do not disturb” to reduce distractions.
4. Speak up: If your driver is using their phone or is distracted while driving, remind them to focus on the road ahead.
Let’s keep our roads safe.
