Cummins Falls near Cookeville drops 75 feet into one of the largest natural swimming holes in Tennessee.
The trail is 1.5 miles round trip and requires crossing Blackburn Fork Creek on stepping stones, which adds a small adventure element perfectly suited to the payoff waiting at the end. The state park was only established in 2012.
The swimming hole at the base of the falls is one of the finest natural swimming destinations in middle Tennessee.
Those who visit on a weekday in September when the summer crowds have thinned but the water is still warm describe it as the most impressive and most accessible waterfall within an hour of Nashville.
