Registration is open for HomeSource east tennessee's Financial Capabilities Course, coming to Maryville this fall.

Four Wednesday evenings at United Way of Blount County: October 8, 15, 22, and 29, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Practical instruction in budgeting, credit review, and savings goal-setting from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-approved financial coaches.

Special pricing for Blount County residents:
$25 per individual · $50 per couple

(Blount County pricing made possible through a partnership with United Way of Blount County. Standard rate for residents outside Blount County: $75 individual, $100 couple.)

A closer look inside our newest homes in East Knoxville.

Last month we opened four new apartments at Holston Village. One-bedroom homes built for older adults and neighbors living with disabilities. Now here's what surrounds them.

The community room lounge, where neighbors gather.
A pair of rocking chairs where a conversation goes long.
A coffee bar for the morning routine that keeps you connected.
A screened porch for the days when you want to be outside without the weather.
A kitchen for the shared meals that make a building feel like a neighborhood.

Willow Place is growing again.

Phase III opened this summer in Karns with 30 income-appropriate senior apartments. Now we're planning for Phase IV: another 30 apartments that will share a community center with Phase III residents.

Sixty senior neighbors across two phases, one shared community. That's what Willow Place is building toward.

Twenty-eight years ago, HomeSource east tennessee joined a national network that turns local capacity into community outcomes.

That network is NeighborWorks America. Since December 1998, we've been one of nearly 250 chartered member organizations delivering affordable housing, homeownership counseling, and community development across every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Tribal lands.

Locally, that has meant 36 years of operations, 12,210 cumulative housing services, 2,480+ families helped to homeownership, and 291 rental homes across 8 communities.

Nationally in the last fiscal year, our network created 17,600 new homeowners, provided 216,800 rental homes, repaired 66,900 more, and leveraged $74 of investment for every federal dollar received.

Being part of a bigger picture matters. And doing local work well is how any of that adds up.

NeighborWorks® America is awarding $1.8 million in Portfolio Strengthening Grants to 15 network organizations to help preserve affordable rental homes and strengthen multifamily housing portfolios across the country, including in rural communities where affordable housing resources can be especially limited.

Now in its 22nd round, the program has awarded more than $28 million to more than 100 NeighborWorks network organizations, supporting the long-term sustainability of affordable homes and communities.

Every home you see across East Tennessee is here because someone showed up. A neighbor, a partner, a funder, a volunteer.

Over the past six weeks, we opened four new homes in East Knoxville. We welcomed neighbors into a Knoxville showroom where aging in place gets real. We listened to senior neighbors describe what makes independence real. We walked alongside families facing foreclosure. And we honored the workforce whose paychecks power our region.

HomeSource east tennessee is the infrastructure making it possible. 36 years. 291 rental homes across 8 communities. 2,480+ families helped to homeownership. All of it stewarded with a clean opinion on our latest independent financial audit and 85 cents of every dollar going to programs.

This Labor Day, we're thinking about the working East Tennesseans whose paychecks power our region.

Nurses. Teachers. Line cooks. Warehouse crews. Small business owners. Grocery clerks. The neighbors who keep our communities running every day.

At HomeSource east tennessee, our mission is to make sure the homes those paychecks reach are safe, stable, and within reach. That's what affordable housing is for: giving working families the ground to plan a life from.
