I’ve done my homework. I have plans in place. Now I need your vote to put them into motion.

I’ve spent months researching the issues and listening to your concerns about schools, housing, roads, healthcare, and local businesses. Those conversations have helped shape my plans for a better District 89.

This newsletter preview shows another part of my plan: keeping you informed. If elected, I’ll publish a quarterly District 89 Report so you can follow the work in Nashville, track local projects, and get answers to your questions.

You deserve a representative who shows up, listens, follows through, and reports back.

SHARE THIS POST AND ENCOURAGE THOSE AROUND YOU TO GET INVOLVED.

Making this happen depends on your involvement—your vote, your voice, and your willingness to bring others into the conversation.

Vote Randy DeBord for Tennessee House District 89. Let’s turn preparation into action—together.

IF YOU WANT THE JOB, SHOW UP.

You deserve a representative who will make room in their schedule for you.

Someone who shows up, listens, answers your questions, and is willing to stand in front of the people they are asking to represent.

Public service isn't supposed to be about what's convenient for the politician. It's about being available to the people.

If you're asking voters to give you the responsibility of representing them in Nashville, then showing up should be part of the job.

You deserve a representative who makes time for YOU.

I’ll be there.

If you're between 30 and 45—or raising a family right now—I would especially like to hear from you.
CAN A FAMILY MAKING $110,000 A YEAR STILL AFFORD THE AMERICAN DREAM IN KNOX COUNTY?
I’ve been looking at the numbers affecting working families in our community, particularly people in their 30s and 40s who are raising children, buying homes and building their careers.
Consider a married couple with two children earning a combined $110,000 a year.
That sounds like a good middle-class income.
But look at what can happen to approximately $9,167 in gross monthly income:
🏠 Housing for a recently purchased home: around $3,000/month
👶 Childcare for two children: around $1,457/month
🩺 Family health insurance + medical costs: around $835/month
🛒 Food: around $1,137/month
🚗 Transportation: around $1,242/month
💡 Utilities: around $350/month
📱 Phones & internet: around $223/month
And then there are federal income, Social Security and Medicare taxes.
MIT's Living Wage Calculator estimates that two working adults with two children in Knox County need about $103,000 in gross annual income to cover its basic-needs budget.
Think about that.
A six-figure household income can still leave a family with very little breathing room—particularly when they're paying for childcare or buying a home at today's prices and interest rates.
And that raises a question I think is worth discussing:
What is putting the greatest financial pressure on families in their 30s and 40s in our community?
Housing?
Childcare?
Healthcare?
Groceries?
Transportation and traffic?
Something else?
If you're between 30 and 45—or raising a family right now—I would especially like to hear from you.
Don't tell me what you think I want to hear.
Tell me what your family is actually experiencing.
What is making it harder to get ahead?
What would make the biggest difference?
I want to listen.

“Politics today has become too focused on the drama of conflict and not focused enough on advancing the lives of the American people.”

“Government should not be a stage where politicians compete to create the loudest conflict. It should be a place where people with different views come together, solve problems, and improve the lives of the people they represent. We can disagree without becoming enemies. Progress should be measured not by who won the argument, but by whether families and communities are better off when the work is done.”

Randy DeBord " I'm not here for drama' I'm here to do the job of representing those that vote and the betterment of our communities.
