In Knoxville, hundreds of Tennessee fans skip the traffic and sail a boat to the football game instead. ⚓️🏈

They call it the Vol Navy, and it started in 1962 when a Vols radio announcer named George Mooney motored his little boat down the Tennessee River, tied it to a tree by Neyland Stadium, and strolled in. Now the whole riverbank fills up with orange boats rafted together on game day.

Tailgating was too easy for us. We had to go and invent sailgating.

Somewhere out there is a state that loves football more than we do, but I have yet to find it.
