Last week, BEDS Plus CEO Tina Rounds joined leaders from across the region for the Chicago Southland Chamber Affordable Housing Panel to discuss housing, economic development, community impact, and future trends affecting our communities.
As an organization serving communities throughout the south and west suburbs, BEDS Plus values opportunities to participate in conversations like these. Our staff and leadership team are active in chambers of commerce, business associations, community organizations, and local leadership groups throughout the region. These connections help us stay engaged, build partnerships, share resources, and hear firsthand what is happening in the communities we serve.

For many years, the Women's Club and parish community of St. John of the Cross have quietly made a difference throughout our community.

Through their annual Rummage Sale and countless volunteer hours, they have supported organizations like BEDS Plus and many others working to help local neighbors in need.

We are incredibly grateful for their friendship, generosity, and long-standing commitment to serving others.

As the Rummage Sale takes place this weekend, we encourage everyone to stop by, find a treasure, and support a tradition that gives back to so many.

For individuals living outdoors, these small acts can provide relief during extreme weather conditions and often open the door to connection and support.

Help our outreach teams stay stocked this summer by donating bottled water, individually wrapped snacks, shelf-stable food items, sunscreen, and bug spray.

China, a participant in our Transition-Aged Youth program, recently moved into her first apartment.

For many young adults experiencing homelessness, daily life becomes about getting through the day. Finding a place to sleep, figuring out meals, and trying to stay safe leave little room to think about what comes next.

For LGBTQ+ youth, those challenges can be even greater. According to the National Network for Youth, LGBTQ+ youth are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their peers.

China's story is a reminder that housing provides more than shelter. It provides a place to exhale, make plans, and focus on the future.

Looking for a summer service project for your group?
Collection drives are a great way for summer camps, Vacation Bible Schools, scout troops, sports teams, swim programs, youth groups, and neighborhood organizations to make a difference close to home.

Every item collected helps BEDS Plus Outreach Teams and programs support individuals and families experiencing homelessness and housing instability throughout the summer months.

We can also visit your group to share information about homelessness and housing insecurity in our community, answer questions, and help dispel common myths and misconceptions.

Thank you to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Palos Heights for their generous support of BEDS Plus through this year's Giving Tree collection.

Year after year, the Good Shepherd congregation comes together to support local families. Through their participation in our Adopt-a-Family program, they provided direct support to families facing housing instability.

In FY25, BEDS Plus assisted 3,521 households, including 1,581 children. Contributions like these help ensure families have access to the basic needs, resources and support they need during challenging times.

We appreciate Good Shepherd's continued commitment to helping neighbors throughout our community.
