Most buyers search for a home based on their must-haves (e.g., 3 bedrooms, big backyard, etc.), but here’s a pro trick: search based on a home’s flaws instead!
Many great properties are overlooked because of bad listing photos, poor descriptions, or minor cosmetic issues.
How to Do It:
Look for Ugly Listings – Homes with terrible photos, cluttered rooms, or outdated interiors often get ignored, meaning less competition and better deals.
Search by Location First – Focus on the area you want and filter for the cheapest homes. You might find a gem that just needs a little TLC.
Ignore Cosmetic Flaws – Ugly paint, old carpets, or bad staging can be easily fixed, but they scare off other buyers. Focus on layout, structure, and location instead.
Ask Your Realtor to Search for "Expired Listings" – These are homes that didn’t sell and might have motivated sellers willing to negotiate.
This strategy helps buyers find undervalued properties and get the best deal while avoiding the bidding wars on picture-perfect homes.
