In the early 1900's, Fredrick William Kellogg had plans for the La Jolla Beach & Yacht Club to be built out. This included a pier and harbor for boats to visit from all over. A combination of winter storms and the Great Depression sank the boating idea, which led to repurposing the land for a passion of his, playing tennis.⁣

Ever heard of Charles Lindbergh? On May 10, 1927 he departed from San Diego with a final destination of Le Bourget Field, Paris. May 21st marked the completion of the first ever solo transatlantic flight.⁣

In 1928, "Lindbergh Field," (now known as the "San Diego International Airport") was built. ⁣

Before he boarded the Spirit of St. Louis for flight that day, he ate at his favorite seafood restaurant, the Bird Rock Inn.⁣
