'Tis the season to spring clean your house and this easy spring cleaning checklist will help you get it done!

April Home Maintenance & Safety Checklist

1. SPRUCE UP YOUR FRONT PORCH
Wipe down your front door, shake out your welcome mat and add some plants or foliage. If you have the space add a chair or sitting area.

2. INSPECT AND CLEAN WINDOW AND DOOR SCREENS
Dirt and grime tend to get stuck in our window screens throughout the year. Take advantage of a sunny day and give your screens some TLC.

3. CLEAN YOUR TOASTER
Toasters can be huge fire hazards. Take a few minutes to clean and inspect your toaster.

4. SPRING YARD SPRUCE UP
Removing refuse (natural or otherwise) from your grass and planting beds
Prepare flower beds
Plant new succulents, flowers, etc.
Pest and w**d control
Prune shrubs
Refresh your mulch

5. CHECK YOUR YARD FOR LOW SPOTS
After the rains check your yard for low spots. Low spots can become a breeding ground for lawn fungus, can kill your grass and attract mosquitos.

6. WASH WINDOWS
Clean your windows to allow the sun to shine fully in your home and clean windows allow you to see the robust colors Spring and Summer bring.

7. BOOST CURB APPEAL
Simple projects such as updating your house numbers, updating your mailbox and cleaning outdoor light fixtures can make a world of difference.

8. CLEAN TRASH AND RECYCLE BINS
Residue gets stuck and trapped in the bins. With warmer weather now's a great time to give them a spray and deodorize them.

9. TEST AND CHANGE DETECTORS
Check your smoke alarms and CO2 detectors. Be sure to wear ear protectors when checking your smoke detector. Make sure you have Double AA batteries on hand.

10. PROFESSIONALLY CLEAN CARPETS or FLOORS
Having clean carpets/floors is important for a number of reasons:
Better air quality in your home
Removal of dust and danders that can trigger allergies
Eliminate dust mite infestations
Removal of bacteria, germs and stains

Been a minute since I've checked in. Hope everyone has been staying healthy and doing well. I'm getting questions about San Diego's real estate market during this pandemic and before and after the election...In a nutshell, there is Low inventory and historically low interest rates that are driving San Diego and California's (overall) red-hot real estate market. According to the California Association of Realtors, home sales climbed to their highest level in more than a decade. It's making it harder for buyers to buy low but easier for sellers looking to sell high. We are getting multiple offers on homes that are for sale.
