Meet the new CVCAN Board of Directors on Zoom tomorrow at 5:30pm!

Don’t forget! This Monday, Feb. 1st from 5:30PM to 6:30PM, you’ll get to meet the new expanded CVCAN Board of Directors and hear about the work we did in 2020 to create the structure to fulfill on our new mission: Connecting Communities Through Cannabis Education and Advocacy.

Board members met safely in October to learn how to lead by consensus, establish how the board would operate and create nine committees focused on areas of Governance, Budget & Risk, Legislative, External Affairs/Marketing/PR, Membership Development, Social Equity & Inclusion, Events, Cultivation/Manufacturing/Retail & Innovation, and Executive. Since completing the Strategic Planning Weekend, the Board has been developing workplans for committees and opportunities for members to become involved.

Your opinion is valuable. Simply email [email protected] your answers to the questions below. Please reply by Monday 6/29 at 8pm.

Everyone’s answers will be compiled and given as a bundled response to the City Council prior to the study session. Our goal is to show strength in numbers. We need your help! Please email your answers to the following questions to [email protected]:

1. Cultivation Tax – Is the current cultivation tax of $25.50 per s/f for the first 3,000 s/f of cultivation and $10.20 per s/f for remaining area “business friendly”, reasonable, and competitive compared to the other California Cannabis cities? If not, what should the tax be in order to attract cannabis operators to DHS?

2. Dispensary Sales Tax – Is 10% tax “business friendly” compared to other cities in California? If not, what should the tax be to be more reasonable and competitive with the cities in California?

3. Cannabis Friendly Advice – What recommendations would you give to the City of Desert Hot Springs in regards to being more “business friendly” to attract more cannabis business?
