One of my favorite things about living near Olympia is the The Olympia Farmers Market ❤️

It’s more than just a farmers market — it’s one of those places that truly feels like the heart of the community.

Fresh local produce, flowers, seafood, coffee, handmade goods, live music, waterfront walks, and small businesses all in one place. Whether it’s a quick Saturday morning stop or an afternoon spent wandering the marina and downtown, it’s one of those experiences people return to again and again.

Open year-round and located right next to Percival Landing Park on the waterfront, it’s one of the many reasons people love living in the South Sound.

The Olympia Farmers Market turns 50 this year! 🎉 Celebrate on Saturday, August 9. Enjoy live music, local speakers, Market history displays, giveaways, and more — it’s a full day of honoring one of Olympia’s most cherished institutions.

Wear Your 1975 Best! They’re throwing it back to the year it all began. The fun will be happening from 10 am - 3 pm:

- Live music featuring Odd Sock, Hook Me Up, and the Oly Mountain Boys
- Family-friendly activities: Zucchini car races, live portrait drawing, rock decorating, balloon animals, bubbles, dance pop-up, quilt raffle, and more!
- Craft demos & vendor specials
- Self-guided history tour and reflections from OLYWA Days of Change
- Market Memories Exhibit
- FREE commemorative wildflower seed packets for the first 100 guests

See you there!

One of the things families in this area truly love is having access to places like the Hands On Children's Museum right on the Downtown Olympia waterfront.

It’s consistently ranked as one of the top children’s museums in the country and offers year-round exhibits, events, creative activities, and hands-on learning experiences for kids of all ages.

From science and art to outdoor play and seasonal events, it’s one of those places families end up making memories at again and again ❤️

Beyond day-to-day living — this area offers so many ways to get out, explore, and enjoy the community.

A few local favorites:

• Schilter Family Farm, Olympia, Washington (Nisqually/Olympia) — seasonal events, pumpkin patch, and one of those places families come back to year after year

• Hands On Children's Museum — one of the top-rated children’s museums in the country, right on the Olympia waterfront

• Thurston County Fairgrounds and Event Center — just minutes away and home to year-round events, markets, and the annual county fair

• Tacoma Rainiers at Cheney Stadium — an easy drive north for summer baseball nights, fireworks, and one of the best minor league ballpark experiences in the Pacific Northwest

• The Olympia Farmers Market— a short drive from 98503, located next to Percival Landing Park on the marina
Open year-round, this covered outdoor market features local food, fresh produce, artisan goods, live music, and seasonal events

And throughout the year, the Olympia waterfront and downtown area host festivals, art walks, and community gatherings that bring the whole region together.

It’s not just a place to live —
it’s a place to experience, explore, and create memories year-round.

Another exciting addition coming to the Lacey area.

One of the things that continues to make this region such a wonderful place to live is the continued investment in community spaces, recreation, wellness, and family-centered amenities.

From parks and trails to waterfront activities, local events, and now future recreation expansion through the South Sound YMCA — the Olympia/Lacey area continues to grow while still maintaining the sense of community that makes people want to stay long-term.

It’s exciting to see thoughtful growth continuing throughout Thurston County Washington.

Thanks to Lacey Historical Society and The JOLT - The Journal of Olympia, Lacey & Tumwater for the good news!

Local favorites are what turn a location into a lifestyle.

These are just some of the spots we’ve genuinely enjoyed around the 98503 Lacey / Olympia area over the years:

• Martin Way Diner — classic, local, and consistently good
• The Rock Wood Fired Pizza — fun atmosphere and unlike anywhere else around here
• Kamakura Japanese Cuisine — incredible sushi and one of our longtime favorites
• BACCO Trattoria Italiana — amazing comfort food and cozy dinner atmosphere

Coffee spots (Lacey + Olympia):
• Ebony and Ivory Coffee — lovely atmosphere any time of day
• Olympia Coffee Roasting Co. — multiple locations and consistently excellent coffee
• Ember Goods — right in historic downtown Olympia
• The Owl's Nest coffee + pastries — dangerous if you love pastries as much as we do

Downtown Olympia favorites:
• Budd Bay Cafe — one of our go-to waterfront spots
• Atlas at Altitude — family-friendly and home of the official LulaFest 2026
• Well 80 Brewhouse — exceptionally crafted beers made with pure artesian water
• Swing Wine Bar — especially great for quieter, romantic dinners
• Anthony's Restaurants waterfront dining — two locations on the marina
• Olympia Oyster House — especially during summer evenings with live music on the patio

And one of the best parts of this area:
• The Olympia Farmers Market — just minutes away, right by Percival Landing Park, with local food, fresh goods, and family friendly seasonal events throughout the year

Plus, food truck areas like the Lacey Food Truck Depot are everywhere around town, which means you can explore just about any cuisine without going far.

From quick coffee runs to waterfront dinners —
there’s always somewhere to go that feels welcoming and local.
