Last June, while on furlough, my fiancé Carina Duong and I drove from Fort Worth Texas, to Marco Island Florida to remodel a family investment property. This home hadn't been updated since 2004. From the interior to exterior, we spent months focusing on our goal to bring new life into this home and rent for the upcoming winter and spring season.
There were days we slept and had our meals on the floor, due to shipping delays. We were told by outsiders, what we were trying to do was too ambitious, "that is too much work, you'll never get this done by the fall". "Are you sure you know what you're doing?" "You will not get the weekly/monthly rent you think you'll get".
We sanded and hand painted cabinets, donated all existing furniture, put together new furniture, hand steamed and scraped 90's wall paper off all bathroom walls, hand paint all interior walls, oversaw a complete master bathroom remodel, oversaw landscape exterior clean up, oversaw a repipe on the entire house, installed new floors, toilets, vanities, pool remodel from pavers to the bottom surface, and oversaw an install on a floating dock.
We are happy to announce that we have successfully rented and booked the entire year for 2021. We had a vision! We drew up a game plan, accounted for change and adapted, then executed. It's not enough to talk about doing something, you have to put in the work everyday to achieve your goals. You have to know where you're going and how to get there. We didn't listen to the naysayers, we believed in the process and most of all we believed in each other!
