📣 Animal Assistance League of Slidell is proud to participate in the national Foster 50 Challenge — a nationwide movement designed to inspire more people to open their homes and hearts to shelter pets this summer. 💛
Led by PEDIGREE Foundation in partnership with leading animal welfare organizations, Foster 50 is focused on one simple but life-saving goal: getting more shelter pets into foster homes so more animals can be saved.
Right now, our shelter pets need more than just a kennel. They need a couch to curl up on, a quiet place to relax, a walk around the neighborhood, and a chance to show their true personalities outside the shelter environment.
Research from Maddie’s Fund shows:
🐾 Dogs who spent even ONE night in foster care were 14x more likely to be adopted
🐾 Fostered pets also had a lower risk of being returned after adoption
Fostering truly changes lives — not only for the pets, but for the shelter as well. Every foster home helps reduce overcrowding, opens space for animals in need, and allows shelters to focus resources on medical care, behavior support, and lifesaving programs.
The best part? Fostering can fit almost any lifestyle:
• One-hour outing
• Overnight sleepover
• Weekend getaway
• A few weeks of care
• Or maybe forever if you fall in love 🐶🐱
Summer is the perfect time to foster, with flexible schedules and more opportunities to enjoy time outdoors with a furry friend. Even a short break from the shelter can help an animal decompress, gain confidence, and connect with future adopters.
And don’t worry — we provide supplies, support, and guidance every step of the way.
