US 30-year fixed mortgage rate falls below 6%
February 27, 2026

The U.S. average 30-year fixed mortgage rate fell to 5.98% on February 26, 2026, marking the first time the benchmark rate has dipped below the 6% threshold in more than three years. According to Freddie Mac, this is the lowest level for the 30-year mortgage since September 8, 2022, when it averaged 5.89%.

5.98%, down from 6.01% the previous week and 6.76% one year ago.
