It’s been a while since I’ve posted about CSST ( Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing) gas line and manifold safety issues. This is a very common issue in homes early 2000,s to mid 2010,s and beyond. The issue is that if your home was struck by lightning the CSST gas line doesn’t have enough mass to carry an electrical load so it could potentially explode. It’s an easy fix and I find this many times if the home hasn’t been sold in the last ten years or so and that it was not caught by an inspector on an earlier inspection. Please Google CSST gas line safety for more information. There are simple fixes for this issue. Please look in your home and if you have the Yellow CSST gas line please contact an HVAC technician or a professional journeyman electrician to evaluate and take care of your home. This can be easily made safe by grounding the gas meter line and bonding the CSST gas manifold. I’ll never get to say “I’ve seen it all “.
