Great energetic start to the morning with One Acadiana, as they brought Loren Scott’s annual Louisiana Economic Forecast to us. Loren’s perspective on a 2023 recession is that it will be mild and short-term, beginning in Q1 and tapering in Q3. He believes we will see additional interest rate increases of 125 bps by end of 2022. While this impacts Capital expenditures, some good news is 4 of our top 6 Acadiana companies are in growth, expansion and hiring mode. The Port of Iberia is investing $50MM to deepen the channel, which will bring more industry to the area. Recovery efforts from 5 natural disasters brings increased hiring during the recessionary period.

Conversations around the tables with community and business leaders reveals growth at several existing companies, and expansion of markets due to the increasing flexibilities of remote workforce. Awesome exchange of perspectives, including brief visit with Missy Andrade, CEO of Community Foundation of Acadiana! Look forward to Missy’s community leadership contributions!!!

Mayor Ray Bourque unveiled Broussard’s RETAIL READY program and showcased 3 properties designated as Retail Ready.
The 3 parcels total 170 acres and are along Hwy 90, Ambassador Caffery Parkway South and St Nazaire Road. LEDA CEO Mandi Mitchell and her team are alliance partners with City of Broussard.
Mandi stated the Retail Ready Program is a model for the rest of Louisiana that will be brought to other economic development organizations!! Our region is blessed with Mayor Bourque and his collaborative vision for community development as economic development.
