Conversation came up while cold calling where a client was using 3 real estate agents at the same time.
When asked why their response was "I thought I would get access to more houses"
To someone who is removed from the industry it is a common belief that real estate brokerages work like Car dealerships...you sell Ford I sell Chevy.
I began to explain to them that each agent is technically their own small business, and each agent HIRES their brokerages for legal covering and training/accountability.
*Note to all of my friends*
When you choose to work with an agent, you are hiring them and directly providing for their family. We don't collect a salary/hourly pay, we get paid when we help buy or sell a home.
If your loyalty is for the brokerage then awesome, but reward the agent that is working for you and looking out for your interest.
