I got a call today from a good friend whose daughter has a friend that rec'd an estimate from someone to repair her flood damaged home. She is a single mom who is completely unfamiliar with material and labor costs for construction projects. His estimate included Sheetrock replacement, painting, new interior doors, floors and trim, cabinents and countertops. This individual's estimate was 53,000$. Her home is 1500 sqft.

People, please use caution during this time. There will always be opportunistic ppl out there that will take advantage of you.

I've given several estimates over the past two weeks. Average cost for a 1300-1500 sqft home not including Cabinents and countertops is 10-16,000$. This includes materials and labor (Sheetrock, doors, floors and trim) and a complete paint job of the interior from the crown down. And this estimate is based on construction costs prior to the flooding.

This is not an attempt to generate business for myself. So if you know someone that is unfamiliar with material and labor costs, share this with them.
