Builder confidence is flat. For 16 months straight, builders have reported negative sentiment. Fewer new homes are breaking ground, and that affects supply for the entire housing market.

Ripple effect on resale homes: With less new inventory, resale homes carry more of the demand. Sellers face buyers with limited budgets, and buyers face fewer choices—all while affordability remains the #1 hurdle.

--Why builders are cautious:
High mortgage rates make financing tough for buyers and for builders.

Volatile tariff policies (on, off, delayed, increased) have made construction costs unpredictable, shaking confidence.

Parkview Health has officially committed to building a $200 million full-service hospital on the west side—just north of Kalberer and 100 W near Purdue Research Park. The facility will include a 24/7 ER, surgical suites, imaging, lab services, specialty care, and outpatient clinics. Construction starts in 2026, with opening projected for 2028.

What’s coming: 40-bed hospital + medical offices
New jobs: 250+
Outpatient care: Launching even before the hospital opens
