Sometimes, more house just means more stress.

More to clean. More to maintain. More to pay for.

As we were walking the streets of downtown Lafayette, this weekend for Festival International, I was thinking of how much we truly enjoy the different cultural events that our area has to offer.

We are big “weekend“ people! We love to experience things as a family. We love quick getaways & short adventures in nearby states.

As much as I like the idea of living on a farm or heck, even having a pet, I know that my lifestyle preferences don’t match that. I would never be able to take care of a bunch of property because it would take up my whole weekend. And if we had a pet, we would forever be boarding.

Same thing for travel ball! As much joy as it brings some families, it would never work for ours. We couldn’t travel with everyone because of our oldest daughter‘s work schedule. So then we would be split up for most weekends and that doesn’t align with our “quality time” value.

We have made so many decisions that have not aligned with what is truly best for our family. We have seen and experienced the good and the bad and the ugly. And we have found that starting with intentional conversations is always the best way.

When choosing a home (or a child’s school or any life decisions) it’s not as simple as upsizing… Or downsizing… It’s about rightsizing.

As we were walking the streets of downtown Lafayette, this weekend for Festival International, I was thinking of how much we truly enjoy the different cultural events that our area has to offer.
