The May 2026 residential real estate numbers are in for Lafayette Parish, and that elephant in the room is still very much making itself comfortable. 🐘

Last month, we talked about resale homes spending 49% longer on the market compared to this time last year. For May, that number is still hovering at 47%.

Also worth watching: pending sales are down 14% year to date in Lafayette Parish and down 20% from last month.

Typically, we see spring and summer numbers stay strong until school starts back around August, but this year, that slowdown is showing up early.
