We had a great Board meeting this month, and one thing really stood out to me: member involvement matters.
The highlight was the pool extension. Users shared why it matters, then discussed costs, staffing, usage, hours, and operations with staff and the Board. We found a solution!
The Board unanimously approved keeping the pool open through October 31, 2026, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m., weather permitting. I’m proud of our members!
We discussed a Pool Committee and reviving the Marina Committee to involve users.
2027 Budget and Assessments: Our CPA is projecting reserves and inflation. Reserves cover major expenses, fund improvements without borrowing, and earned over $106,000 in investment income this year. We changed multiple insurance policies to manage costs. No assessment increase was approved. More projections will inform the Board’s decision.
Board Elections: Six candidates for two seats: Shelley Wall, Jim Christie, Mark Bierig, Rebecca Patek, Jeff Koble and Pamela Heugatter. Meet the Candidates Night: October 19, 6:30 p.m.; voting begins October 30.
LVPOA Property: The Board approved selling unused 21519 Patton Avenue and keeping 21504 Boggy Ford Road, about one acre for a future facility or amenity.
Our Parks: Cody Park’s new life jacket station is in use; its post-and-cable work is complete. Plans include restroom feasibility, a Bar-K play area upgrade and Green Shore Park improvements. The Parks Committee seeks members.
New LVPOA Website: www.lvpoa.org has park, amenity and facility status updates. Staff is addressing U-Manage issues.
Let’s Get Together at Cody Park! The We**ie Roast is Saturday, September 26, 6–8 p.m., at the pavilion by the playground. Hot dogs, water, yard games, and neighbors! First come, first served until dogs run out.
Final Thought: Conversations improve when members participate. Whether it’s the pool, parks, marina, facilities, elections, or LVPOA’s future, we want you involved. Let’s improve our community together!
