In North Georgia you can find “Sliding Rock” hidden among the beautiful Tallulah Gorge…one of the best natural waterslides anywhere in the southeast! This fun swimming spot sits deep on the gorge floor, where the Tallulah River rushes over smooth rock and sends visitors sliding about 40 feet before dropping them into the cool pool below. The setting is just as memorable as the ride itself, with steep canyon walls, clear mountain water, and the rugged beauty Tallulah Gorge is known for all around you. The gorge stretches about two miles and drops nearly 1,000 feet in places, making it one of the most dramatic natural areas in Georgia. Reaching Sliding Rock takes some effort, and you’ll need a free gorge floor permit from the park’s Interpretive Center. Only 100 are given out each day, and they are not available during water releases, which helps to keep this place from becoming overcrowded during the summer!
