122 Acres Bordering Sprewell Bluff WMA — A Place That’s Hard to Put Into Words
I’m gonna really hate to see this property go when it does. Very thankful I’ve been able to make so many memories on it for the past few years. Now is the opportunity for someone else to enjoy it as we have!
This 122-acre tract shares its northern boundary with Sprewell Bluff Wildlife Management Area, putting thousands of acres of protected, wild country right outside the property.
And if you’ve never spent much time around Sprewell Bluff and the Flint River, pictures really don’t do it justice.
President Jimmy Carter understood that. When plans were underway to dam this section of the Flint River, Carter fought to preserve it. Years later, reflecting on places like this, he wrote:

Thankfully, this place was saved.
Today, the Flint still winds freely through the rugged hills of Sprewell Bluff. Shoals break the surface of the river. Creeks cut through deep hardwood bottoms. Massive rock faces rise out of the hillsides. There are caves tucked into the bluffs and overlooks where, on a clear night, the sky seems almost untouched by artificial light.
And this property sits right against it.
From here, you can spend a morning hunting deer, hogs, and turkey, ride side-by-sides through the hills, explore miles of surrounding wilderness, fish the Flint for its native shoal bass, or put a kayak in and spend the afternoon floating through one of the most beautiful stretches of river in Georgia.
The wildlife on the property speaks for itself. Trail cameras have captured large groups of wild hogs, flocks of turkey and whitetail deer moving through the timber. The terrain ranges from creek bottoms and hardwoods to high ground with long-distance views.
There’s also a large metal building already in place, giving you a headquarters for equipment, ATVs, hunting gear or a future recreational retreat.
But what makes this tract special isn’t any one improvement.
It’s where it is.
You aren’t simply buying 122 acres. You’re buying 122 acres on the edge of a landscape that people fought to keep wild.
Carter once recalled that people who had opposed his decision later came back and thanked him:
“They are glad that the river was saved.”
Standing on these ridges, floating the Flint, climbing the rock faces, or watching the sun disappear behind miles of uninterrupted timber, it’s pretty easy to understand why.
Properties can be improved.
Buildings can be replaced.
Roads can be built.
But you can’t recreate a place like Sprewell Bluff.
And opportunities to own a substantial tract directly adjoining it don’t come around very often.
This is one you need to experience in person.
