Three years ago Rick, Megan and I lost our son and brother Thomas Blackman Cannon. Thomas had always struggled since his head injury when he was 15. He died on a rainy day alone in an underground parking lot at the Best Western on Newport Blvd. The police think his dealer was with him in the garage prior to his death. At that time I was unaware of fentanyl which was just the beginning of the nightmare that we have been living in and I cannot forgive any state or federal agency or politician that has had any participation in our open borders.
I miss him terribly but finally this year the wall around my heart that had been up for 20 years protecting the pain started to fall apart. I want to say thank you to all his friends and my wonderful friends that remind me of all the sweet and funny stories of Thomas as a little boy with his buddies hanging out in Emerald Bay and my friends that remind me of all the humor and love, Thomas had.
Thomas I hold you in my heart every day and I can‘t wait to hold you in my arms hear you say mom, mom, mom in that low voice of yours when you thought I was about to do something that would embarrass you. I love you my handsome boy.

It would help if you read this. Right now, you are in a bad place. Your family law attorney, family, and friends encourage you to stay calm and be kind, and leave your anger at the door. You will be reminded that your spouse will be in your life for years. You will have graduations, weddings, and grandchildren's births and birthdays. My story is below.
I joke that it was a miracle to find two men to marry. My first husband, Rick, and I were married for 16 years. We had two children, Megan and Thomas, who suffered severely at the ages of 10 and 12 when I decided to leave my marriage. Looking back now, I realize how selfish and immature I was. Luckily, Rick and I did our best to be kind and civil. This is why the title: don't burn the house down. On October 8th, 2021, we lost Thomas at 33 to a fentanyl overdose. It was raining, so he went into the underground garage of a Best Western motel and died. Rick, Megan, and I united to support each other at such a painful time. Having Megan back in my life after many lost years was a joy at a sorrowful time. My second husband, Dan, is more popular with Rick's family than I am. For example, Rick and three mutual friends had a big birthday last year. We all spent five days in Mexico to celebrate. So we have a first husband, daughter, second husband, and friends for many years on vacation together. When the tough stuff happens, your spouses, friends, and family are your life preservers. Hi Diane. T.C. is checking in with his latest…

Hey there! My trainer and I went to this incredibly busy place with lots of people, cars, smells, ducks, and even boats! They told me it's called the Riverwalk. There was so much to see and smell, it was a lot for me to take in at first. But I was the best boy and followed my trainer's instructions to a T! I feel like we walked miles! So many people complimented me on my hard work while we were out, and of course, my charm and good looks. I must've really done something great because my trainer could not stop telling me how proud she was of me. She gave me so many pets and I returned the favor by giving her kisses. I needed extra nap time when we got back to campus. Can’t wait until my next training adventure and tell you all about it!

Hi Diane. I hope you are doing well. T.C. is checking back in to say hello…

Hello! I am doing pawtastic! I've been training so much I think I'm fluent in dog trainer speak. I have been transitioning between trainers so I can get used to other handlers taking me places who can also review my skills. I was a little unsure about the idea at first, but I flexed my knowledge for all the other trainers. We're still hitting the town on the daily. I've been to so many places! So many of them have delicious smells and things to check out. But my trainer tells me I have got to "Leave it" when I try to inspect things. It's really hard because my nose smells so much goodness, but for a treat, it's so worth it! I'm loving training and getting to learn. Can't wait to share more soon.
