The most popular state Americans moved to in 2023 is TEXAS.

According to U-Haul's Migration Trends report, Texas secured the highest number of one-way U-Haul moves in 2023 for the third consecutive year, maintaining its position as the leading growth state. Following Texas, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee also experienced significant growth. California continued to record the largest net loss of one-way movers for the fourth consecutive year, with other bottom-ranking states being Michigan, New Jersey, Illinois, and Massachusetts.

U-Haul determines growth states based on net gain or loss of one-way equipment from customer transactions, revealing continued migration trends to the Southeast and Southwest regions.
