😁 Today in Hawaiʻi, we celebrate and honor the legacy of King Kamehameha the Great, the visionary leader who united the Hawaiian Islands and forever shaped the course of Hawaiʻi’s history.
King Kamehameha Day is observed each year on June 11 and was first established in 1872 by his grandson, King Kamehameha V, to ensure his grandfather’s remarkable achievements would never be forgotten. In recognition of this important day, many businesses, state offices, and public schools across Hawaiʻi are closed. There are also many parades and his statues across the islands are adorned with beautiful leis.
