This morning during our swim at Black Rock I looked past Mark to see a monk seal swimming toward us. It veered away as we began moving toward shore.

We met a lovely couple from Pittsburgh who had videoed our encounter and sent this video clip for proof!

It is one of the most surreal of our Maui experiences!

I believe I am correct in saying there are 4 resident monk seals on West Maui. One is these is Lani and apparently she doesn't want friends this morning!

An employee from the resort fronting the beach shouted to the swimmers to get out of the water because they DO bite!
