We are pleased to announce a series of free, public events celebrating the opening weekend of Rodrigue: A Louisiana Cowboy, a major exhibition honoring the life, legacy, and Louisiana roots of iconic artist George Rodrigue.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, January 23, at 5:30 p.m., for the first glance at the exhibition. Guests will enjoy light refreshments while exploring works that highlight Rodrigue’s fascination with the Cajun cowboy, the Western landscape, and the open road. Rodrigue: A Louisiana Cowboy will feature over 50 paintings, the iconic cow sculpture, and a selection of mixed media.

On Saturday, January 24, families are invited to a special Family Day featuring two sessions at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Each session is limited to 50 participants, and attendees must register in advance through the link below. Wendy Rodrigue will host a public gallery talk and tour on Tuesday, January 27 at 5:30 p.m. This program will offer deeper insight into George Rodrigue’s work, inspirations, and the cultural history behind the Cajun cowboy series.

All opening weekend events and programs are free and open to the public, though capacity is limited for select activities.
Rodrigue: A Louisiana Cowboy will be on view from January 23 – April 4, 2026 on the 2nd and 3rd floors at the Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center. This exhibition is organized by the George Rodrigue Life and Legacy Foundation with Wendy Rodrigue.
