Public Safety Notice from Columbia County Fire Rescue
Crews are currently operating at a brush fire within the Osceola National Forest in the area of the gun range. Residents and motorists should expect heavy smoke throughout the surrounding area.
Please use caution when traveling, as visibility may be significantly reduced.
The U.S. Forest Service is utilizing Watertown Lake as a water source for both ground and aerial firefighting operations. This has resulted in extreme congestion in and around the area.
For your safety and to allow emergency personnel to work efficiently, avoid the area if at all possible.
We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
