To everyone who’s followed Brenda’s page over the years —
It’s been quiet here since January, for reasons most of you know. But today I have news I believe Brenda is smiling down on from heaven: I just got my real estate license.
I won’t pretend the last several months have been easy. But Jesus has lifted our family out of the valley, every single day, and I don’t know where Helen, Hendrik, and I would be without Him carrying us through this. Brenda loved the Lord with her whole heart — anyone who knew her knew she had her Bible close by and her faith even closer. That faith is what’s carrying me now, and it’s what I want this next chapter to be built on.
Brenda built her whole career in this area, helping families find home — first with Keefe Real Estate, then Compass, matching people with the right house one closing at a time. She grew up in Delavan, and I’ve lived in this area my entire life, so this community has always been home for both of us.
The truth is, Brenda and I had already talked about becoming a husband-and-wife real estate team. We had a whole plan. God’s plan turned out to be different, and I won’t pretend I understand it. But I still believe in the plan we made together, so I’m going to finish it, just without her by my side the way we pictured it.
Before this, I spent years working in orthopedics. When we lost Brenda, I prayed for direction, and I felt God pointing me toward being closer to our kids, Helen (12) and Hendrik (11). Real estate gives me the opportunity to be closer to home. It’s what she loved, it’s what we planned, and with God’s help, I believe I can carry that legacy forward while never missing another moment with our kids.
So consider this my introduction. I’m keeping this page going in her honor, and I’m officially open for business. You can call me Mr. Hauswife.
I’ve got a lot to learn, but I’ve got her example, a God who hasn’t left our side for a single moment, and a whole community that already believed in her. If you or anyone you know is thinking about buying or selling in the Lake Geneva, Delavan, or Walworth County area, I’d be honored to help.
Thank you all for your prayers and for standing by our family this year. God isn’t finished with us yet, and neither is Brenda’s legacy. This is just the start.
