Back on January 2, 1960, a WWII-era North American AT-6C single-engine aircraft went down in Lake Havasu during a duck hunting trip. The pilot and passenger — two brothers from California — were killed in the crash.

The cause is believed to have been carburetor icing. Their bodies were recovered, but the plane itself? Never found.

Despite decades of diving attempts and searches, the aircraft is still somewhere beneath Lake Havasu’s surface.
