Lake Level Updates: Lake Lure is currently approximately 13 feet below full pond level. A project is now underway at the Lake Lure Dam to replace the seals on the Tainter gates.

To allow necessary equipment to be installed, the lake level was temporarily raised. Now that the equipment is in place, the plan is to lower the lake back to an elevation of 975 feet Mean Sea Level (MSL). This level—975 MSL ± 6 inches—will be maintained for the duration of the project.
The project is projected to be completed in February 2026. Once construction is finished, Town officials will begin refilling Lake Lure with tge hopes if reaching full pond (990.5 MSL) by May 2026.
