DID YOU KNOW: A programmable thermostat can help you save money on bills by adjusting the temperature closer to what's outside while you are away or even while you are sleeping. You can save as much as 10% a year on heating and cooling by turning your thermostat back a few degrees while you're at work or sleeping. Also, with a programmable thermostat, you can set it to return to your desired temperature by the time you return home or wake up! So come on, get with the PROGRAM and get SAVING!

SKIP THE COFFEE SHOP & BECOME YOUR OWN BARISTA!

DID YOU KNOW: If you've got a big coffee shop habit, then you could stand to SAVE quite a bit of MONEY! Now, before anyone gets upset or stops reading, I'm NOT suggesting cutting out coffee altogether (unless that's something you want personally), but the suggestion is to invest in brewing your own coffee! There might be a bit more initial investment to purchase a coffee machine to keep at home, but if you find yourself at the coffee shop EVERY DAY, then you can certainly save money by switching. And if you can't find the right machine or don't have the counter space, there are plenty of instant coffee brands out there that can put a coffee shop brew to shame! So, get out there, and GET SAVING!

This Friday it's actually NATIONAL BIKE TO WORK DAY!

If you live close enough to where you work that biking there could actually be feasible, why not give it a try?? Here in the United States, we are all to accustomed to driving our cars pretty much everywhere, so this day is a nice reminder that there are other options! Even if you don't live close to where you work, maybe you live close enough to the grocery store to make a quick trip on the bike next time (or even walk) or maybe you could bike (or walk) to dinner somewhere close by instead of driving next time.

The important thing is to realize that we have options that can help us Save Gas, Save Money, and even get some Exercise while we're at it!

CHECK YOUR HOME INSURANCE FOR SAVINGS!

DID YOU KNOW: Homeowners Insurance can and should change with your life; to be updated in tandem! If you haven't checked in a while, but have made improvements to your home such as installing home security devices — including smoke detectors, burglar and fire alarm systems, or dead-bolt locks — you could probably reduce your premiums, according to the Insurance Information Institute. You could also try bundling your home and auto coverage to see if you could save money on both policies!

WATER GRASS IN THE MORNING!

DID YOU KNOW: If you water your grass/lawn in the morning, during the cooler hours of the day, you will LOSE LESS WATER to evaporation. This means you can USE LESS WATER for the SAME amount of Plant Hydration! Saving Water equals Saving Money!
(A Side Note: Be careful not to water too much overnight thinking that would be the best time because leaving standing water for too long overnight will invite Fungus growth...)

CUT BACK ON PAPER TOWELS!

DID YOU KNOW: Americans spend about $6 BILLION a YEAR on paper towels! This is almost HALF the Global total! So, let's try to save some money by cutting back on paper towel use. Keeping a washable, cotton towel near sinks to dry your hands is a good place to start! We could all probably stand to be a little more conscious of how many paper towels we are using. Sometimes you may still be best served with disposable paper towels (for cleaning up oils and grease for example), but cutting back when you can is GUARANTEED SAVINGS.
