Warren Buffett once called a 30-year fixed mortgage a “no-brainer” in a rising-rate environment.

And while mortgage rates can make buyers hesitate, there’s an important reminder here: the perfect rate and the perfect home rarely show up at exactly the same time.

🏡 JUST SOLD | 59 Conestoga Trail

You see me post “Just Sold!” announcements all the time, but what you don’t always see is the story behind each transaction.

Every sale comes with its own challenges, hurdles, surprises and wins. And this one was all about the timing.

Both the buyers and sellers had the same goal: get the deal closed and get everyone moved in before the school year started. That meant a lot of moving pieces, plenty of communication, and working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep everything on track.

And we did it.

Now that school is officially in full swing, I’m thrilled to announce that 59 Conestoga Trail is SOLD!

The buyers are settling into their new home, the sellers are onto their next chapter, and everyone gets to enjoy the school year knowing the move is behind them.

This is the part of real estate I love most, the problem-solving, the relationships, and helping people get where they need to go.

If you’ve ever walked around Lake Mohawk, you’ve probably seen the wooden woman standing above the water near the grotto. But do you know who she is and why she’s there?

Her name is Princess White Deer (Esther Deer), a Mohawk performer, singer, dancer and Native American rights advocate who became a major entertainer in the early 1900s.

Born in New York City in 1891, Esther began performing as a child and went on to tour internationally, appear in the Ziegfeld Follies and Broadway musicals, and work alongside names like Will Rogers, Harry Houdini and W.C. Fields.

But her legacy wasn’t just on the stage. Esther was also a passionate advocate for Native American rights and women’s voting rights.

And then there’s her connection to our little corner of New Jersey…

When Lake Mohawk was officially inaugurated in 1927, Esther was invited to participate in the celebration. Her Mohawk heritage became part of the identity of the new community. Lake Mohawk and White Deer Plaza carry that connection to this day.

But here’s the twist…

The statue isn’t actually a memorial to Esther.

It was commissioned to honor Frances “Fran” Smith, who served as Lake Mohawk Country Club’s General Manager for an incredible 27 years, from 1984–2011. After her death, local artist Brett McClain created the wooden carving of Princess White Deer as a tribute to Fran and her dedication to preserving the Lake Mohawk community.

So the next time you pass this statue, remember:

One woman helped give Lake Mohawk its identity.
Another spent decades protecting its legacy.
And today, both women’s stories live on beside the lake.
