I’m currently being held hostage by my own junk drawer. Send help (or a dumpster).

Today’s itinerary: a Goodwill drop-off, a dump run, and questioning why I’ve been holding onto a broken light fixture I swapped out over a year ago.

Here’s something I see all the time in real estate… people decide they’re ready to sell, and then realize they’ve been holding onto way more than they thought. Boxes of stuff they haven’t touched in years. That “we might need this someday” pile adds up fast, and I’ve seen it delay moves by a couple months.

A couple times a year, I try to go through closets and storage and clean things out. If I’m not using it, or it’s just sitting there taking up space, it’s probably time for it to go.

Whether you’re moving soon or not, it honestly makes life easier to stay ahead of it. Moving is already stressful enough without having to sort through everything at the last minute.

And I’ll say this… a house with less clutter is way easier to sell. It just shows better, feels better, and makes the whole process smoother.

Had a quiet morning last week and didn’t feel like making breakfast, so I finally stopped at this little café I’ve driven past a hundred times out in Scholls. Just a few miles from home but somehow I’d never been in.

I ordered an iced hazelnut caramel latte and avocado toast with eggs, pickled onions, and microgreens. Man, did it hit the spot!

The place had this calm, lived-in feel. A few people already tucked into their corners, chatting or reading. The staff was friendly in a way that didn’t feel forced, just… normal. Like they were actually glad to be there.

The whole time I kept thinking, my dad would love this place. He’s always on the lookout for low-key breakfast spots with solid coffee and zero fuss. Definitely bringing him next time.

Not sure how I’d missed it until now, but I’m glad I finally stopped.
