Haven't posted in a while, been head-down focused. But this weekend I've been feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude, peace and also triumph ... as I sit and reflect on how a single month can be so significant and symbolic, in business and in life.

August in a snapshot - WOW!

Personal

-I became an uncle...again! To my amazing nephew and the 3rd child of my younger brother

-Made amazing new friends, joined two mastermind groups and networks of extraordinary business owners and planned a bunch of new trips (like 6!) for later this fall to events and adventures all over the world!

-Have never been in better health, alignment, happiness - and am fully focused on what I am building with the most amazing teams I've ever had the privilege to lead and work with, and contributing important things to the world, those around me, and myself

-Registered for an Ironman triathlon in Lake Placid next summer - because I wanted a new big and bold challenge, and why not??!

-Continued to commit to lifelong adventuring, and working remote whilst adventuring for long stretches - next up? Hawaii or Alaska, then back out west this winter!

Offsite tech startup

-Basically closed (successfully) our Seed round for our startup
Offsite with my Cofounder Jared, after beginning our raise at the exact time the fundraising market for technology startups came to a near standstill, and turned into one of the most challenging fundraising environments in a decade

-We pivoted from anxiety & austerity just a couple of months ago to bullish growth & optimism. We are currently hiring for multiple roles, and will double our headcount to approx 25 next year en route to our Series A fundraise

-We are launching our software product - THIS MONTH! - and we have a World Class team of true professionals powering this rocket ship, as we liftoff and fight to win the category for bringing people back together through transformational events and offsite retreats

Symbolic week as I had a chance to attend and participate in graduation ceremonies for New York University at Yankee Stadium this past week.

I finished my masters degree in RE finance & investment back in 2019 but due to the pandemic wasn’t able to walk in 2020.

I almost didn’t finish and almost didn’t see a need to finish this degree … but when I got a call from my advisor in the summer of 2019 and he said if you don’t finish you’ll have to go through admissions again as I was nearing the maximum time allowed for it apparently (I took a few years off to grow my businesses and was not living in the city at the time so commuting every week to Manhattan was hectic).

But I decided that I wanted to finish what I started - I wanted to see it through to a successful completion. This degree and experience has given me some of my dearest friends now from across the world; it has provided me with new business opportunities I didnt have before; I met my mentor and good friend and became business partners with him in one business; and it taught me invaluable lessons about life, real estate and business.

Feeling grateful I had a chance to experience all of this … to not give up on the degree or myself because it got hard or hectic.

When my first attempt at graduate school after life changing events in my 20’s failed as no business and law school accepted my application … I decided then and there I needed to be an entrepreneur. I began building my first few successful businesses those first early years in my thirties … but I ever gave up or lost sight of academia and furthering my formal education. I’m glad I didn’t either … because I only applied to one school my 2nd time around - NYU - and they accepted me for who I was and what I wanted to learn and accomplish.

The power of second chances is extraordinary; the resolve we cultivate and hold for our vision and goals in life can be truly transformational … if we don’t lose belief and faith in ourselves and in our vision for what we want in life.

Feeling extremely grateful … my proud Mother was also able to attend way up in the stands waving … life is good 🙏 !
