Bubbie's Bees is partnering with MakeGood, a nonprofit that connects volunteer makers with children who need custom mobility equipment, to 3D print a custom wheelchair for a child. Currently we are building Toddler Mobility Trainers (TMT) which are custom-built, 3D-printed mobility device designed for children ages 1-8 who need assistance with independent movement. Unlike traditional wheelchairs, the TMT is specifically engineered for young children's developmental needs.

We have selected Alora for building her a chair. She is wanting pastel pinks and purples with Princess Tiana on the hub caps. I am so excited to build this chair for her and will be delivering it in person in Baton Rouge in December.

One of the most important goals of this project is that the child and their family receive their wheelchair completely free of charge. Families raising children with disabilities already face enough financial challenges. The cost of a mobility device shouldn’t be one of them.

While the wheelchair is donated so there is no cost to the family, producing it comes with real costs. Funds raised through this campaign help cover:

3D printer and equipment costs
Printing materials and supplies
Misc expenses (replacement parts, travel/delivery, and other project costs)

Every donation helps turn raw materials into a custom mobility device that gives a child greater independence, confidence, and freedom to explore the world. Any amount over the donation fundraiser will be used for some add-ons such as a tray for eating or playing with toys and storage bin for the back of the chair.

Some transactions just feel meant to be. 🏡✨
