According to the National Association of Realtors, the desire to move closer to friends and family (21%) was the most reported reason for home sellers to sell their properties. Retirement-related relocation (11%) and a loss in neighborhood appeal (11%) came after it.

The average house seller was 60 years old, up from 56 in 2021, and had resided in their home for 10 years before selling. In addition, 86% of house sellers used a real estate agent to sell their property, 10% sold it themselves, and less than 1% used an iBuyer.

May Day is a widely celebrated day in France, for several reasons.

May Day (or La Fete du Travail) is a national holiday in France celebrating the rights of workers — and as the French workers often protest to protect their rights, this can be a day of demonstrations and strikes.

This particular French national holiday is taken very seriously and it's also one of the loveliest days of the year with fragrant bunches of Lilies of the Valley for sale everywhere.

On the anniversary of the French Revolution in 1886, socialists celebrated the occasion by declaring May 1 International Workers Day. Their symbol of a red triangle represented eight hours of work, eight hours of sleep and eight hours of leisure.

The triangle was replaced in 1907 with the Lily of the Valley as the new symbol for May Day and the day was officially declared Fête du Travail in 1941 and is now a national holiday in France.

May 1 is also celebrated as the real arrival of spring so there are lots of pop-up sidewalk stalls selling Lily of the Valley (or muguets as they are called in French).

In France, muguets have long been a symbol of good luck with the tradition said to have started with Charles IX in 1561 when he was given the flower as a gift.
