Once upon a time, I was on the beach in Mazatlan when Robert Mitchum swooped me up in his arms and carried me to his hotel room.

I was 6 and had just cut my toe on some glass buried in the sand. Mitchum and his wife came to my aid, taking me to their room, washing my foot, and applying a band aid. I will never forget the look of shock on my father's face, going pale, when he came into the room. Of course, I had no clue who this man was.

Here's a picture of me (the red-head covered head to toe) sitting with him on the beach a day or so later. Not sure, but that may be his daughter immediately to his left.
