Congratulations to Paul and Amanda Figurell!
Around a year and a half ago, I dropped an envelope in a door with a letter asking if the occupants were interested in buying a home. In reality, I did the entire apartment complex (several hundred apartments) and a couple of other complexes that week. The next day, I got a call from Paul. He had owned a home in the past, went through some life changes and was currently renting with his wife, Amanda. He said they would love to buy a home but they weren't quite ready; in fact, he said they had given up on ever buying a home. I told him that we could meet and work with them and help them get ready. He was probably the most grateful person that I have ever met with. We talked for an hour or so and Dan and I gave him a list of tasks to do to get ready to buy a home. We kept in touch and after a few minor setbacks, some grit and determination (and with some help from Dan), they were finally ready to go. Andrea kind of took over from there in showing them houses, finding a home, negotiating, etc. This morning, they had settlement on their beautiful, new home and got out from under some outrageous rent prices. After settlement, Paul and Amanda asked if they could come back and talk to me for a minute. I've had people call and yell at me for leaving an envelope on their door and I've had others who bought a home. But no one has said anything quite so special as Paul and Amanda. They looked at Andrea and I and said: "starting with picking up your envelope and making the call, all the way through to today, you guys changed our life." Paul and Amanda, that means more to us than any paycheck. The reality is that you changed your own lives. At best, we were guides. But I'll take it. Way to go guys! We wish you many years of happiness as proud owners of your new home!
