🏡 The Lancaster County Property Reassessment 🏡
What you should know....
A countywide reassessment is intended to be revenue neutral, meaning taxing authorities must first adjust millage rates so that they collect the same overall revenue before any future rate changes are considered.
📌 Start by determining whether your new assessed value is fair and reasonable.
Ask yourself:
🏡 Did you recently buy your home?
📋 Have you had a recent appraisal through a refinance?
📊 What have similar homes in your neighborhood sold for recently?
Remember, a reassessment is not an individual appraisal. The County uses market data and recent sales across neighborhoods to establish values countywide.
What you need to know:
✔ Review your assessed value
✔ Analyze comparable sales
✔ Understand what your notice means
📌 And one important reminder: Appealing your assessment is 100% FREE. You do not need an attorney, and you do not need to pay companies that offer appeal services by mail. Property owners can file an appeal directly with the County at no cost.
